Your paper will contain 5 full pages of content and it must be written in current APA format with a title page, abstract, and reference page (not included in the page count). A minimum of 5 scholarly sources are required. Thesis StatementClue materials as information sources are very important any type of case because the evidence can be used to convict a suspect, find the criminal(s), or even not to convict the wrong person. With that being said, physical evidence can be brought or even left at the crime scene where criminal investigators can find and use. Brief paragraphThe use of DNA technology has been one of the most significant developments in criminal investigation since the creation of fingerprint identification. DNA technology has helped police officers, prosecutors, and defense attorney to convict criminals or to eliminate people as suspects. DNA analyses on saliva, skin tissues, blood, hair, or semen can now be reliably used to link criminals to crime [and has] increasingly [been] accepted during the past 10 years (Frontline. 1996). The first DNA-based conviction in the United States occurred shortly after in 1987 when the Circuit Court in Orange County, Florida, convicted Tommy Lee Andrews of rape after DNA tests matched his DNA from a blood sample with that of semen traces found in a rape victim (Calandro, Reeder, & Cornier. 2005). In the following years, there have been groundbreaking cases with DNA evidence not being disputed which began to change when technique began to become more widely used by prosecutors [which caused] defense attorneys [to start] challenging the admissibility of DNA tests (Calandro, Reeder, & Cornier. 2005).
